The Kanchi Story

A Visionary Journey

The Kanchi label was created by Dimple Choksi in 1996 in Mumbai, India, and moved to her new home of Chicago, USA with her. Dimple has loved sketching different silhouettes, playing with diverse fabrics, and color palettes since she was a young girl, and she channeled her childhood dreams and enviable fashion sense into curating the Kanchi label. Dimple’s vision of creating scintillating and breathtaking Indian bridal outfits, each customized to the bride’s specific taste, soon blossomed into a boutique collection of vivacious lehengas, saris, and ethnic pieces designed to make you stand out in a crowd, in 2015. Although Dimple’s seasonal collections evolve according to the latest trends, she remains true to her passion of pushing the boundaries of Indian fashion to create dynamic and bold pieces while maintaining the traditional elegance of her Indian heritage.

The Kanchi Philosophy

Dimple strives to provide each of her customers with a compassionate and joyful experience as they browse and shop the Kanchi website. She believes that clothes are not simple pieces of materials held together by a few stitches, but rather, are sentimental items with memories attached to them. Hence, she wishes for each of her customers to have a jubilant and delightful experience when wearing her designs, and feel special. Additionally, as a designer attached to the well-being and health of our global environment, Dimple endeavors to source all her materials from sustainable vendors in India, and regularly remains in contact with her fabric manufactures as well as her team of embroiders and tailors based in Mumbai.
